Description

The EA-6B was borne from US Navy and Marine Corps a need for a sophisticated electronic countermeasures aircraft to supplant and replace their Douglas Skyknights over the skies of Vietnam. Enter the EA-6A, a platform aircraft derived from the A-6 Intruder, with its EW suite and two-man crew. However with the increasingly high tech environments of warfare, a much more powerful aircraft was needed, and that came in the shape of the EA-6B, and despite the fact that it used the same wing and fuselage configuration as the A-6A and the A-6 Intruder, a new forward fuselage housing a four-man crew made it a completely different aircraft. Consequently, it was given a new name – the ‘Prowler’. The EA-6A was the initial version of the A-6 used by the US Marine in the 1960s, and development on the more advanced EA-6B began in 1966. The book looks in at the role of the Prowler, sing top quality photography, walk-arounds, in-detail images and colour artwork, making this a unique guide to the aircraft for both the enthusiast and the modeller alike.
